The economics
Deployed airbags are the most mispriced damage type at auction. Bidders see bags out and assume catastrophe. Often it was a moderate hit that triggered sensitive sensors. That fear gap is your margin, provided you know the real cost.
Real cost per bag
Used module route: £250 to £600 per bag depending on the model. Add £150 to £300 for seatbelt pretensioners (they fire too, always check), the clockspring on the driver's side, and possible seat frame damage on side bags. The Analyzer defaults to £650 per bag on UK used parts. Override it with your model's actual prices.
The hidden items
The airbag ECU usually needs replacing or a crash-data reset, which costs £40 to £80 as a service. A torn dash from the passenger bag can be £800 plus used. Curtain bags wreck headliners. Budget the full set, not just the bag.

The legal position
In the UK it is legal to sell a car with repaired airbags, but the system must work. An airbag warning light is an MOT failure. Never fit resistors to fool the light on a car you plan to sell. It is dangerous and it is fraud.
Verdict
Two deployed bags on a desirable car with light panel damage is one of the best risk-adjusted buys in salvage. Six bags and a bent shell is a parts car wearing a project's price tag.
